Luka Modric won the Ballon d'Or 2018 as the first player to finish the Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo record, which won the grand prize for the last decade.
Modric, 33, has the advantage of helping Real Madrid win the Champions League third in May and help Croatia to reach the World Cup final. Kaka is the last player to win the Ballon d'Or in 2007 before the era of Messi and Ronaldo.
Ronaldo, who moved from Real to Juventus, finished second with Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe in third and fourth, while Messi reached fifth.
